How this is calculated

  1. Organic clicks: posts that rank × monthly searches × the click-through rate at your position, from First Page Sage data. Each post starts to get clicks the month after it is published.
  2. Ad value: organic clicks × cost per click. This is what the same clicks would cost as search ads. The default cost per click is the LocaliQ 2026 average of $5.42, and the industry list sets its industry average.
  3. Cost per organic click: total content cost ÷ total organic clicks over 12 months.
  4. Break-even: the first month in which the total ad value reaches the total content cost.
  5. The estimate stops at month 12. Posts keep getting clicks after you stop paying for them. Ads stop when the budget stops.

Questions

Ad value is organic clicks × cost per click. It is what you would pay Google Ads for the same number of clicks on the same searches.
Use the top-of-page bid that Google Keyword Planner shows for your keywords. If you do not have it, pick your industry. The averages come from LocaliQ and WordStream data for 2026.
Not at first. Ads bring clicks on the day they start. A blog takes months to bring clicks, and its clicks continue after you stop paying. Many businesses run ads for searches that need results now and publish posts for searches they want to rank for.
A post gets no clicks until the month after it is published, and each month adds only the posts from the month before. The ad value grows every month while the content cost stays the same.
