The short version
- Finish your Google Business Profile first, with Electrician as the main category, every service you sell, and a service area instead of a home address.

- Text every customer a Google review link on the day of the job, because 74% of consumers only care about reviews written in the last three months.
- Update your EV charger pages, because the IRS says the federal 30C charger credit is not allowed for property placed in service after June 30, 2026.

What the search data tells electricians
Aranx compared this page's 14 selected searches. Use the counts to compare customer needs, then choose a topic that fits what you offer. National counts do not tell you how many customers you can reach in your own service area.
Compare searches from people ready to act
- electrician near me
- 368,000
- electrical company near me
- 49,500
- electrical contractor near me
- 33,100
These are the largest reported action searches in this sample, measured as average monthly US searches. A larger count does not mean a page is easier to rank. Match the page to the customer's actual question and your ability to help.
Use seasonality to decide when to prepare
For "electrician near me", September 2025 had 450,000 searches. November 2025 had 301,000. The peak was 1.5 times the low. Compare this pattern with your own season and customer history before scheduling content.
Sources, method and limits
Prepared by Aranx. Search source: Google Ads search volume via DataForSEO, United States, August 2026. We rechecked all 416 distinct customer queries across the 30 playbooks on October 13, 2026. Location: United States. Language: English. Search partners are excluded.
This is an editorial sample, not a complete list or a survey of businesses. Google Ads counts are approximate and can group similar phrases. Ad prices vary by place, time and advertiser. They do not measure organic ranking difficulty or expected revenue.
The seasonal comparison divides the highest monthly count by the lowest in the series. The action-search comparison sorts the reported average monthly counts for searches labeled ready to act. These are Aranx calculations, not customer results.

Measure booked jobs over 90 days
Download the results worksheet from the planner. Record your baseline before changing anything. Track website search clicks, inquiries and booked jobs in separate columns.
Use Search Console for website search clicks. Record the source people report and the outcome you can confirm. A click count alone does not show whether more people chose your business.
Note changes to pages, ads, pricing, availability and seasonality. Review the pattern after 90 days and choose your next task. Keep customer names and contact details out of the worksheet.

Fix your Google Business Profile
45 min
The map results for "electrician near me", which gets 368,000 searches a month, come from Google Business Profiles. A complete and accurate profile is the fastest way to show up there.
- Sign in to Google, search your business name, and select Edit profile.
- Set your main category to Electrician. Add a second category only if it describes your whole business, not one service.
- Write your business name exactly as it appears on your van and license. Remove extra words like "Panel Upgrades" or "24/7" from the name.
- If customers do not come to your shop, remove the address. Then select Location, select Edit next to Service area, and add up to 20 cities or ZIP codes.
- Set hours to the times a real person answers the phone, and use a local number that rings you, not a call center.
List every electrical job you sell
30 min
Google matches your profile to specific searches like "ev charger installation", which gets 14,800 searches a month. The services list tells Google which jobs you do.
- Open your Business Profile and select Edit services.
- Select every suggested service you offer.
- Select Add custom service for jobs that are missing, such as panel upgrade, EV charger installation, generator installation or knob and tube rewiring.
- Write one or two sentences for your top five services that say what the job includes and which towns you cover.
- Select Save.
Set up a review request text
20 min
Most consumers only care about reviews from the last three months. A new review every week does more than a pile of old ones.
- Search your business on Google, open your profile, and select Ask for reviews. Copy the link.
- Paste the link into the review text template below and save it as a text shortcut on every phone your crew uses.
- Send it to every customer on the day you finish the job. Google bans asking only the customers you think will be happy.
- Never offer a discount, gift card or free service for a review. Google bans any reward for a review.
- Do not ask customers to name an electrician or your town in the review. Google prohibits asking for specific content.
Fix expired tax credit claims and show your license
40 min
The IRS says the federal 30C credit is not allowed for EV chargers placed in service after June 30, 2026, and the 25D credit for solar and batteries ended for expenditures after December 31, 2025. Old pages that still promise them mislead customers, and AI tools can repeat the old claim.
- Search your website, Google posts, Facebook posts and ads for "tax credit", "30C", "25D" and "30%".
- Delete the federal credit claims, or rewrite them with the end dates above.
- Add any utility or state rebates that apply today, with a link to each program page.
- Put your state electrical license number in your website footer, your About page and your Google description.
- If you pull permits and schedule inspections for your customers, say so on every service page.
Upload 10 real job photos
30 min
A neat panel says more about your work than any sentence. Photos of clean installs, your vans and your crew show a homeowner who will be working in their house.
- Take photos of your van, your team, and five recent jobs, such as a new panel, an EV charger in a garage or a generator pad.
- Leave out house numbers, street signs and customers' faces. Ask before you take photos inside a home.
- Upload the photos to your Business Profile.
- Add two new job photos every week.
Your 90-day SEO plan for electricians
After the first week, work through one phase at a time. Most businesses see their Google Business Profile move first and their website pages later.
Weeks 1 to 2
Get found on the map
Your Google profile, reviews and phone are ready for the next outage call.
- Finish the five first-week tasks above.
- Answer or return every call within 15 minutes. Forward after-hours calls to an on-call electrician or an answering service.
- Write your business name, address and phone number the same way on your website footer, Google, Yelp, Angi and Facebook.
- Claim Bing Places and Apple Business Connect and copy your Google details into them.
- If you install standby generators for a brand like Generac, check your listing in that brand's dealer locator.
Weeks 3 to 4
Build pages for the jobs you want
Each job you want more of has its own page that answers price, permit and timing questions.
- Build separate pages for panel upgrades, EV charger installation, generator installation, rewiring and emergency service.
- If you do commercial work, give it its own page. "Commercial electrician" gets 14,800 searches a month.
- Use the panel upgrade outline below. Show a typical price range or explain what changes the price.
- Add the EV charger FAQ block below to your EV charger page.
- Test your homepage with PageSpeed Insights. If the mobile score is red, send the report to whoever built your site.
Month 2
Get ready for generator season
Your generator pages are live before "whole house generator cost" searches peak in January.
- Publish a whole house generator cost page. Searches went from 6,600 in December to 33,100 in January.
- Add a Google post every week with a real job photo and one safety tip.
- If you want paid leads, apply for Google Local Services Ads now. Google says screening takes 3 to 4 weeks on average.
- Claim your Angi, HomeAdvisor, Thumbtack and Nextdoor profiles and match your Google details.
- Ask the home inspectors, builders and supply houses you work with to link to your website.
Month 3
Measure and repeat
You know which searches bring calls, and your summer storm and panel pages are planned.
- Open Google Search Console and check the Performance report. Write pages for searches where your site shows up but gets few clicks.
- Check the calls and website clicks your Business Profile sent you each month.
- Publish a knob and tube wiring post. It gets 33,100 searches a month, all year.
- Plan summer pages now. "Electrical panel upgrade" went from 5,400 searches in June to 22,200 in July.
- Get past 20 Google reviews first. 47% of consumers will not use a business with fewer than 20.

See how Aranx worksHow to show up in ChatGPT and Google AI answers
Homeowners now ask ChatGPT, Gemini and Google's AI Overviews questions like "do I need a panel upgrade for an EV charger" or "is knob and tube wiring dangerous" before they call. In BrightLocal's 2026 survey, 45% of consumers said they used ChatGPT or other AI tools for local business recommendations, up from 6% the year before. These tools answer from what they can read about you on the web: your website, your Google profile, your reviews and your listings.
Give the tools plain facts to quote. A page about EV charger installation that states your price range, the chargers you install, your license number, whether you pull the permit and the towns you cover is easy to cite. Keep those facts current. If your page still promises the federal 30C credit, which ended for chargers placed in service after June 30, 2026, an AI tool can repeat that wrong promise to your next customer.
Reviews feed these answers too. BrightLocal found that 82% of consumers read AI-generated review summaries, and those summaries come from what your customers wrote. You cannot tell customers what to say, but a steady stream of recent reviews gives the summary detail about the jobs you actually do.
Listings and directories to consider
Customers find you on these sites, and Google checks them to confirm your business details. Use the same name, address and phone number on every one.

5 SEO mistakes electricians make
Still promising the EV charger or solar tax credit
The IRS says the 30C charger credit ended for property placed in service after June 30, 2026, and the 25D credit ended for expenditures after December 31, 2025. Remove both claims and list the rebates that apply today.
Service words in your Google business name
Google bans service and location words in the name and can suspend the profile. Use the name on your van and license, and put services in the services list.
Hiding your license number
Homeowners want proof before someone opens their panel, and Local Services Ads check state licenses for electricians. Put the number in your footer, your Google description and every quote.
Letting outage calls go to voicemail
28% of consumers choose a business in under five minutes. Forward after-hours calls to an on-call electrician or an answering service so a person picks up.
One page for every kind of work
A homeowner who searches "ev charger installation" and a property manager who searches "commercial electrician" want different pages. Give each paid job its own page with prices, photos and the towns you cover.
Questions electricians ask about SEO
How long does SEO take for an electrician?
Changes to your Google Business Profile, like categories, services and hours, can show up within days. New website pages often take three to six months to rank, depending on how many electricians near you already have strong pages and reviews. Judge progress by calls and booked jobs, not by where you rank on one day, because map results change with where the searcher is standing.
Should I use Google Local Services Ads?
Many electricians run them next to SEO. Local Services Ads charge for leads, not clicks, and show a Google Verified badge. Google treats electricians as an urgent category, so it adds service professional background checks. It also asks for general and professional liability insurance and state business and owner licenses. Screening takes 3 to 4 weeks on average, so start before you need the calls.
Should I have separate Google profiles for residential and commercial work?
No, not for the same office and crew. Google allows one profile per business location. You can have more than one profile only if you run separate locations with their own staff and service areas. Use one profile with both kinds of services listed, then build separate residential and commercial pages on your website so each type of customer finds the right one.
Do I need a blog?
Service pages come first. A blog helps after that, because homeowners search their problem before they search for an electrician. "Knob and tube wiring" gets 33,100 searches a month and "lights flickering in house" gets 6,600. A short post that explains the risk in plain words, then says when to call a licensed electrician, can bring calls from people who already know they need help.
Is it OK to give a discount for a Google review?
No. Google bans offering payment, discounts or free services in exchange for a review. The FTC rule on fake reviews, announced in 2024, also bans rewards tied to a positive or negative review, and the FTC can seek civil penalties. Ask every customer the same way, with no reward attached. A plain text on the day of the job works.
Should my EV charger page still mention a tax credit?
Not the federal one. The IRS says the 30C alternative fuel vehicle refueling property credit is not allowed for property placed in service after June 30, 2026. If your page still promises 30% back, rewrite it. Check whether your utility or state runs its own charger rebate, and list only the programs that apply in your area today, with a link to each.
Can I show up in towns where I do not have an office?
Yes, through your service area. Google lets a service-area business list up to 20 cities or ZIP codes, and says the area should not reach much farther than about two hours of driving from your base. Do not rent a virtual office or mailbox to get a second address. Google says those locations are not eligible and can get your profile suspended.
